About George Street Playhouse 
The George Street Playhouse has been producing world-class theatre and educational programming for over thirty years. It is once located in an old YMCA building in downtown New Brunswick, NY, but has since moved to College Farm Road in New Brunswick to make way for a recent renovation.

However, in 2019, it will be back to its former location with a new and improved performing arts center that includes two separate performance spaces and a mixed-use tower. The theater continues to offer five-play seasons with premium plays and musicals that contribute to making the George Street Playhouse one of the highest esteemed in the country.

The History of the George Street Playhouse 
The George Street Playhouse is one of the state’s most popular professional theatres that is committed to developing new productions, particularly those in regards to plays.

Its artistic Director David Saint and Managing Director Kelly Ryman have helped the theatre become a nationally recognized proscenium theatre. It also offers many critically acclaimed plays on its mainstage while offering a home to local artists and emerging artists hoping to make their way to the stage.

Founded in 1974, the Playhouse was the brainchild of Eric Krebs and has since been represented by countless productions including those on Broadway such as Lewis Blacks’ One Slight Hitch, and Rich Girl, Getting’ The Band Back Together, and Joe DiPietro's Clever Little Lies.
Additionally, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play Proof by David Auburn were even created at George Street Playhouse in 1999. The playhouse also has a touring theatre that features five productions that tour to over 250 schools in the tri-state area. More than 80,000 students experience their productions every year as well.

Their Mission 
The George Street Playhouse department is on a mission to help students of all ages explore the dramatic process. The goal is to develop creative experience, improve communication and problem-solving skills for students, increase self-esteem, and appreciation for the arts. Everything they do is designed to encourage students to fall in love with the arts and explore how it can improve their lives. Their programming includes their educational touring theatre, classes, in-school residencies, and professional development workshops. They also offer a variety of community programs for the public to explore.
